In the fall of 2009 Northwest Neighborhood built a Pocket Park on the corner of 6th Ave and Linden St. Using the remaining money from our PRO Neighborhoods grant we moved some earth, planted some trees and shrubs and created a rock lined path in a neglected right of way area owned by the City of Tucson. The pocket park utilizes passive water harvesting design to feed stormwater to the trees and shrubs along the path. After a few years, the trees should provide plenty of shade for passers by along this generally barren stretch of 6th Ave. The pocket park acts mostly as pathway, but also has wider areas to host small gatherings.
